"Here I am, Lord. Is
it I Lord?"
St. Rose of
Lima Mission Statement for Youth Ministry Team
To provide
opportunities for the youth of St. Rose to grow in their Roman
Catholic spirituality.
St. Rose of
Lima Personal Creed for Youth Ministry Team Members
By providing an
environment that is safe, educational and fun, St. Rose of Lima
Catholic Church Core/Edge Team and lifeguards will help teenagers
grow in their relationship with God by teaching them about the
traditions and richness of the Roman Catholic Faith and by providing
sound moral guidance on topics and issues that are relevant in their
lives right now. As leaders, we will strive to help the youth of our
parish develop a deeper relationship with Jesus as well as a deeper
understanding of His Church on earth. We understand that in order to
do this, we must not only take an active interest in our youth, but
must also strive to set a good example for them in the way we live
out our own faith. We believe in developing and fostering healthy,
appropriate relationships with the youth as an integral part of
helping them develop their own relationship with God and Church.
Through the use of educational and social activities, we hope to
make every teenager involved not only a more informed Catholic
Christian, but also a better member of society, family and parish
life.
CORE Leader Definition
Everyone has a baptismal call to serve. A CORE Member is an adult who is
responding to his or her baptismal call to serve in youth ministry. As a
CORE Member, you will be an important role model in teenagers' lives. Your
approach to ministry should be rooted in service, commitment, and
dedication to the Church and the teenagers you serve. CORE
Members are one of the most vital parts of the Life Teen Program. First
and foremost, CORE Members are role models to all of our teens. We know
that how you live and act makes a strong impression of teens. The CORE
Members work under the supervision of the youth ministry staff for the
purpose of assisting in the fulfillment of the Life Teen mission.
CORE Commitment
§
As a CORE member I will exhibit the highest Christian ethical standards
and personal integrity.
§
As a CORE member I will conduct myself in a manner that is consistent with
the discipline and teachings of the Catholic Church.
§
As a CORE member I will avoid taking unfair advantage of the power present
in the youth ministry role.
§
As a CORE member I will share concerns about suspicious or inappropriate
behavior with my pastor, their principal, or the bishop.
§
As a CORE member I will report any suspected abuse or neglect of a minor
to the youth minister.
§
As a CORE member I will accept my personal responsibility to protect teens
from all forms of abuse and exploitation.

GUARDS
Guard Definition
The Life
Guards are selfless individuals who offer their time and talent to help
facilitate each Life Night. Their greatest contribution is the food
preparation for each Life Night. A Guard may be someone who would
like to be a CORE Leader, but who doesn't feel that it is their season to
serve in that capacity at this time. They may also be someone who
wishes to volunteer in this capacity first to see how the program works
before committing to serve as a CORE Leader. They are usually
individuals who enjoy organizing events; assisting the Youth Minister and
CORE Leaders in gathering and distributing materials for Life Night, food
preparation, signage, make phone calls, mailers, etc.

The Great Commission
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." [NAB Matt.
28:19,20]
